Our LORD exclaimed!

       Our LORD exclaimed!

By Patrick Miron

Mark 10:14Whom when Jesus saw, he was much displeased, and saith to them: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God”

Few examples of the Love of Christ for His Created humanity are as revealing as is this passage. Knowing that He was on a “Mission” with limited time to fulfill it; Christ nevertheless made time for mere children, who very likely, given the age range implied [young and younger], sensed, rather than knew His Compassion and Love for them. They where able to “sense” goodness in the Presence of Perfect Goodness.

One very seldom sees images of Christ smiling, and with GOOD reason. His Mission was grounded in sacrifice, not social interaction. Grounded is a certain servility and severity of message; not jocularity. But it is difficult not to imagine Christ warmly smiling with these young, pure and precious ones surrounded Him.

Never one to miss a “teaching moment” Jesus then proclaims another “New Teaching.”

Matthew 18:3And said: Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

NOT mimicking a child will prohibit one from entering heaven ! ? !  What’s that all about?

What characteristics are commonly found in children? That is Christ message here.

A near “Blind” Obedience [substitute “faith -filled” for blind]

A strong desire to please authority figures

An openness to new THINGS [Teachings]

Most often a high degree of humility

A desire to mimic and to follow the example set by adults

A lack of prejudice  and no- judgmental attitude

A desire for approval and to be loved and accepted

ARE NOT these traits beneficial to one Actually KNOWING Christ? For ones own salvation?
