The Exquisite Joy of Catholism!
…. Our Christmas Message
by Pat Miron … I’m a Catholic
Today is Born to You! Our Savior: …Christ The Lord!
Luke 2: 4-21:“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to be delivered. And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, “Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people; for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!” When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they saw it they made known the saying which had been told them concerning this child; and all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.”
The Exquisite Joy of Catholism!
…. Catholics more than any other people, group or faith have cause to be joy-filled at the celebration of Christmas. And Jesus invites ALL to join us. We ARE the new “Chosen People.” We alone [with all those affiliated with us] have been “called by name.” we alone have the Seven -Sacraments, personal signs of God’s Special LOVE which means, we ALONE actually have the Christ Child Jesus– now, the Risen Savior and Redeemer of the entire world.
In the first recorded Gospel, Matthew shares the “Good News.” Mt. 28:20 “and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” And How is “God with us?”
“My dear friends, Know and believe that the tabernacle is where our personal poverty meets the joy of Christ Captive Poverty.” Mother Theresa of Calcutta
Matthew 26: 26-28 And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke: and gave to his disciples, and said: Take ye, and eat.
This is my body. And taking the chalice, he gave thanks, and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this. For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.
MARK 14: 22-24 And whilst they were eating, Jesus took bread; and blessing, broke, and gave to them, and said: Take ye.
This is my body. And having taken the chalice, giving thanks, he gave it to them. And they all drank of it. And he said to them: This is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many.
Luke 22: 19-21 And taking bread, he gave thanks, and brake; and gave to them, saying:
This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me. In like manner the chalice also, after he had supped, saying: This is the chalice, the new testament in my blood, which shall be shed for you.
Paul 1 Cor.11: 23-29 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread. And giving thanks, broke, and said: Take ye, and eat:
this is my body, which shall be delivered for you: this do for the commemoration of me. In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me. For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord, until he come. Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. But let a man prove himself: [to be worthy of the privilege] and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of the chalice. For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself
John Chapter 6: 47-57 Amen, amen I say unto you: He that believeth in me, hath everlasting life. I am the bread of life. I am the living bread which came down from heaven.
If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. “He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, abides in me, and I in him.” Oh! The Exquisite Joy of Catholism!
Gift upon Gift; Joy upon Joy, & Blessing upon Blessing
Undeserved, unwarranted; from the heart of God
John 20:22-23 “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” KNOWN FORGIVENESS OF SINS! Catholics can KNOW! With certitude that our sins ARE forgiven; because it is accomplished by Christ in the ONLY manner he commands.
And the Third Triune gift to Catholics is the sacrament of the “Last Rites.” in a VERY REAL sense: baptism into BOTH the death and the life of and with God. Like the sacrament of baptism: All sins, and ALL consequences are instantly and TOTALLY wiped clean, and barring further sin we have been “perfected” and made suitable for heaven for all of Eternity.
Glory and Praise to You; Lord Jesus Christ; King of Endless Glory!
May God’s Joy, Truth and the incomprehensible love of God for each of us, be with you and your’s….
Love and prayers always, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
